I wrote this song in memory of a
member of my church that passed away quite unexpectedly
a couple of years ago (Ladd Fuqua II). He was 54 if I
remember correctly. He left behind a wife and two grown
children. He was very involved with kids both at church
and with various sports programs. Since he passed away,
I’d wanted to write something about, for, or in memory
of him, but could not seem to. One Sunday as I was
sitting in church, something was being said about him,
and the sunlight was really shining through some of the
windows and I got inspired!
Heaven's
Window
There’s a light,
Shining through the window,
And it shines when I read,
From the word of God.
A beautiful light,
Shining through that window,
And it shines from the place,
Where the saints have trod.
One day I’ll look,
Through that open window,
One day I’ll see,
What’s on the other side.
And I’ll take a walk,
Up through that valley,
Of peace and love,
Where the soul survives.
[Chorus]
I’ll walk beside,
The saints and the angels,
I’ll say a prayer,
For those left behind.
In his beautiful light,
There’s no pain or sorrow,
When you open that window,
And let it shine.
[Verse 3]
If I go,
To the other side,
And leave you here stranded,
Alone just you.
I’ll look back through,
Through that open window,
And I’ll shine my light,
My heavenly light on you.
[Chorus]
I’ll walk beside,
The saints and the angels,
I’ll say a prayer,
For those left behind.
In his beautiful light,
There’s no pain or sorrow,
When you open that window,
And let it shine.
[Repeat Chorus]
