This is a song (one
of many) that I wrote for my wife Kim. This was written
shortly after we started dating. We're both on our
second marriage and have children from our first
marriages. This song is about her not being quite ready
to jump into another relationship and all the issues of
dating again when you have children, etc.
Your Heart (Kim’s Song)
You tried to make love last
You wanted more than second best
Passion behind each caress
Burning for you with every breath
So longs and bitter goodbyes
Like smoke they burn and sting your eyes
When did love turn into lies
And will the eyes that look up to you survive
[Chorus]
Listen to your heartbeat
You can’t ignore the signs
You might not be ready for love
But baby your heart,
Your heart,
Your heart’s just fine
There will be a time
When your hand is folded in mine
When the road no longer winds
But flows straight from your heart to mine
And the tears that you once cried
Memories of ghosts faded with time
Rattle chains that no longer bind
As the past flows away slowly behind
[Chorus]
Listen to your heartbeat
You can’t ignore the signs
You might not be ready for love
But baby your heart,
Your heart,
Your heart’s just fine
[Chorus]
Listen to your heartbeat
You can’t ignore the signs
You might not be ready for love
But baby your heart,
Your heart,
Your heart’s mine
